A geospatial dataset containing polygon geometries for villages and towns in India as per the 2011 Census
The PC11 Village Polygons Dataset provides detailed village- and town-level boundaries across India, based on 2011 Census geographic identifiers. This dataset is a critical resource for rural planning, land use analysis, and socio-economic studies. The village polygons were created using common location codes from multiple open-source sources, ensuring the best alignment possible with official census boundaries. However, due to the complexity of Indian village maps, some minor positional errors (within ~1 km) may exist. These maps are ideal for mapping rural infrastructure, agricultural distribution, and village-level policy studies.
